Manny Pacquiao becomes the latest retired boxing icon to return this weekend as he takes on YouTube personality DK Yoo in a six-round exhibition bout. With rivals Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton both stepping through the ropes for unscored contests this year, it was only a matter of time before ‘Pacman’ joined the trend.
His opponent, DK Yoo, is a cut above many of the errant gamers or TikTok wannabes that often end up in these scraps. His YouTube channel is all about self-defence, with Yoo showing a variety of martial arts and boxing techniques to use if you find yourself in danger. Now he finds himself in danger as he takes on the eight-weight world champion.
The undercard will see the son of former lightweight world champion, and former Hatton and Mayweather opponent, Jose Luis Castillo stepping through the ropes. The Mexican is best known for contesting one of the greatest fights of all time, his 2005 defeat to the late, great Diego Corrales. His son is the 25-3 Jose Luis Castillo Jr, who takes on Min Guk Ju.
