The UEFA Champions League is back this week with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool all in action in this prestigious competition. Here is all you need to know as we head into the midway point of the group stage…

Club Brugge v Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will head into this fixture as favourites but they will face a tough test against Club Brugge who succeeded where they could not, earning a point against Paris Saint-Germain. The Citizens are currently a point behind the two sides in Group A as the Belgian outfit have so far shown they are going to rival the pair for a place in the knockout stages. Guardiola’s side did turn in a good performance against PSG last time out but lacked that cutting edge in front of goal, something they need to correct if they are to have an easy task of progressing to the round of 16.

Where: Jan Breydel Stadium, Brugge

When: Tuesday 19 October, 5:45pm

How to watch: BT Sport 2

Sportsman stat: This is the first time the two sides will meet in a European competition, with City being the 11th club that Club Brugge have faced in Europe.

Betfred odds: Club Brugge – 10/1, Draw – 5/1, Man City – 2/7

Atletico Madrid v Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to the Spanish capital to take on a familiar foe in Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. The Reds will be looking to get revenge on their opponents for knocking them out of the competition two seasons ago, ending their chances of retaining their European crown. Both sides come into this fixture having won their previous matches and a win would see Liverpool on the cusp of sealing their place in the knockout stages, but Atletico Madrid have shown us before they have what it takes to throw a spanner in the works.

Where: Wanda Metropolitano

When: Tuesday 19 October, 8pm

How to watch: BT Sport 2

Sportsman stat: Liverpool have never beaten Atletico Madrid in the Champions League (D2 L2).

Betfred odds: Atletico Madrid – 23/10, Draw – 12/5, Liverpool – 5/4

Chelsea v Malmo

Thomas Tuchel’s side welcomes Malmo to Stamford Bridge as they look to strengthen their position in the hunt for a place in the knockout stages as they look to retain their title. Having suffered a setback against Juventus last time out, the Blues will need to capitalise on their Swedish counterpart’s poor form as they are yet to pick up a single point in the competition so far. The game will provide striker Romelu Lukaku the perfect opportunity to end his six-game barren run in front of goal.

Where: Stamford Bridge

When: Wednesday 20 October, 8pm

How to watch: BT Sport 3

Sportsman stat: This is the first meeting between English and Swedish teams in the Champions League since the first group stage in 1999-00, when Arsenal played AIK and beat them twice.

Betfred odds: Chelsea – 1/12, Draw – 10/1, Malmo – 40/1

Manchester United v Atalanta

With pressure mounting over United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after another poor result and performance in the Premier League, the Norwegian will need to deliver a positive result against Atalanta or it could get much worse for him. The Red Devils will need to channel the determination they showed against Villarreal in the last fixture if they are to send the Old Trafford faithful away happy on Wednesday night.

Where: Old Trafford

When: Wednesday 20 October, 8pm

How to watch: BT Sport 2

Sportsman stat: Manchester United have lost 58% of their Champions League games under Solskjaer (7/12) – the highest percentage of defeats by any manager to have taken charge of an English club on 10+ occasions in the competition.

Betfred odds: Manchester United – 3/4, Draw – 3/1, Atalanta – 7/2
