Everything You Need To Know About UFC On ESPN 41: Vera Vs Cruz

How to watch the latest UFC Fight Night offering
06:55, 11 Aug 2022

A high-stakes bantamweight clash is on the menu this weekend as former two-time UFC champion Dominick Cruz meets Marlon Vera. Ranked eighth and fifth in the UFC respectively, the bout will have huge ramifications at 135lbs. Both men come into the fight in-form, with Cruz victorious in his last two bouts and Vera on a run of three wins. Something has to give in what is a truly fascinating main event.

Support comes from former M1 Global featherweight champion Nate Landwehr, who looks to build on a Performance of the Night win over Δ½udovít Klein last time out. He goes in with David Onama in the co-main event. There’s also women’s flyweight action between Yazmin Jauregui and Iasmin Lucindo and a tough light heavyweight assignment for Devin Clark against Azamat Murzakanov.

What They Say

Vera

“Before, in the 10 times he declined to fight me, he declined a couple times in the past, he was always talking. He wanted to fight (opponents who were) above him (in the rankings). Guess what? I’m above you right now, motherf***er.”

Cruz

“What’s funny is he’s talked all this trash about me from what I’m hearing, but I don’t really pay attention to (him) calling me out. Sorry that people calling me (out) doesn’t affect me. Like I said, I focus on dates. I don’t say no to fights. I don’t know where he’s getting this idea that I do.”
