Antonio Valencia could leave Manchester United on a free transfer due to a clause in his contract, but the Red Devils have an opportunity to stop that from happening.
Valencia moved to Old Trafford from Wigan Athletic in 2009 and has been one of the most consistent performers in recent seasons, and has even captained the side on a number of occasions, but the Ecuador international, who is out of contract at the end of this season, has the opportunity to speak to other clubs in March should United not offer him a one-year extension on his current deal.
The 33-year-old is able to sign a pre-contract at another club in March according to The Sun, so the United board will need to get down to the business quickly if they are to seal his services for another season as the full-back may opt to find a new club before the season ends.
Valencia is one of a number of players that are out of contract at the end of this season, but after a nine-year period at the club Valencia may choose to remain at United, should they offer him a new deal, but Jose Mourinho has sometimes questioned his South American star, so may take this opportunity to offload him for a younger prospect.
Diogo Dalot is a young, improving full-back at United that could be primed to take over from Valencia, who has often struggled to play two matches in a week, but this transfer sags could run and run over the next few months as both the club and Antonio Valencia try to finalise a potential deal which could see him remain or see him go on to pastures new.
