South Shields’ home clash with Scunthorpe will be of keen interest to The Sportsman as they are the latest focal point of our Road to Wembley series, following their victory over Marske United. The hosts, managed by former Premier League star and European Golden Shoe winner, Kevin Phillips, welcome Scunthorpe United, who are struggling in fifth tier following their Football League relegation.

Oldham, who are also struggling to adjust to the fifth tier, will face either Chester or Hanley Town, who are Level 6 and Level 7 of the English football pyramid respectively. Their third qualifying round match will be played on Tuesday 4 October at Hanley’s Abbey Lane at 7:45pm.

Elsewhere, last year’s surprise package Boreham Wood, who stunned AFC Bournemouth to book a Fifth Round meeting with Everton at Goodison Park, have been drawn at home to Wealdstone.

The Fourth Qualifying Round ties will take place on the weekend of Saturday 15th October. Winning clubs shall receive £9,375 and a place in the First Round proper, whereas losing sides will receive £3,125.
