Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 10: Otamendi Is A No Brainer!

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 10: Otamendi Is A No Brainer!
13:50, 26 Oct 2017

Firstly, I’d like to start this preview with an apology. Last week, I picked out Raheem Sterling as a player to transfer in, only for Pep Guardiola to drop the starlet down to the bench… Cheers for that!

Anyway, that aforementioned error cost me dearly, scoring a meagre 42 points, with a gameweek average of 50. Let’s hope for better luck this time around.

Three players to buy

Nicolas Otamendi – Manchester City - £5.9m

Manchester City cannot do any wrong at the moment.  I’ve recommended Nicolas Otamendi previously, and not having him in your team would be criminal. With less than 20% ownership, coming in at under £6.0m, he’s a steal.

The Argentine has featured in every Premier League match so far, keeping an impressive six clean sheets. His total of 55 points on the season is amongst the best for a defender, yet people are still avoiding him.

Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur - £12.7m

It is time to unleash the best striker in the Premier League. With eight goals in his last six, Harry Kane is hitting form nicely. The Tottenham Hotspur star put Liverpool to the sword last weekend, and next up, I fancy him to do likewise to Manchester United.

Yes, he’s the most expensive player in FPL this year, but he justifies that hefty price tag. Make room for the Englishman, because he guarantees you points. I’d also considering giving him the captain’s armband, too.

Abdoulaye Doucouré – Watford - £5.4m

I don’t know about you, but I love Watford under Marco Silva. Last week, we recommended Richarlison. This time around, it’s Doucoure’s turn. He found the back of the net in the loss against Chelsea, but his all-round play has been extremely impressive as well.

As an option from the bench, £5.4m is brilliant value for money. At times, when the fixture suits, the midfielder is an excellent player to bring into your starting XI in a 4-3-3, but, for the most part, I’d be looking at using him in that first substitution role.

Three players to sell

Any Everton defender

I’m going to do this one a little differently. First of all, if you have an Everton defender, I’d like to ask you why? Joking aside, it’s time to get rid. The Toffees have not kept a clean sheet since the opening weekend of the Premier League, and ultimately, that’s what cost Ronald Koeman his job.

Michael Keane looked a safe bet at £5.5m at the start of the campaign, and Leighton Baines has always been a fantasy football legend. However, a defence that is usually so watertight has been nothing short of shambolic. Sell, sell, sell, then avoid them like the plague.

Ahmed Hegazi – West Brom - £4.8m

West Brom’s summer signing started the season in scintillating form, but The Baggies are now without a league clean sheet in four, so cash in on Ahmed Hegazi while you can. Surprisingly, almost a quarter of FPL bosses still have him on their teams, keeping his price £0.3 higher than what it started at.

Tony Pulis’ men have some tricky fixtures coming up so I don’t see it getting any easier for Hegazi. If you don’t have a spare transfer, stick him on the bench for a couple of weeks.

Romelu Lukaku – Manchester United - £11.7m

The big Belgian hasn’t scored in his last four outings across all competitions. After a blistering start, the goals have now dried up. He’s still comfortably the most-owned player in FPL at a huge 54%, but that figure is dropping, and quickly.

Take the £11.7m while you can because United’s fixture list isn’t getting any easier. I certainly don’t fancy him to score against either Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea before the international break. There are better options out there, without question.

I feel quietly confident in all of these picks (famous last words, no doubt). So, good luck to you all during GW10. If you have anyone you’d like to recommend, leave some ideas in the comment box below.
