The weeks are flowing by and we’re now just twelve gameweeks away from the 2017/18 Premier League conclusion. Last time out, we recommended Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the man from Gabon playing an absolute blinder in a 5-1 Arsenal victory. We also suggested you ditch Jesse Lingard, with the Warrington-born-winger firing another blank.
Anyway, onto this week’s action we go... Things kick off with a bang as Tottenham Hotspur host Arsenal in the North London Derby, before Manchester City host Burnley and Manchester United head to Newcastle. The weekend is wrapped up with a Monday Night Football fixture as Chelsea look get back to winning ways at home to West Bromwich Albion, who sit in 20th place.
After some meticulous research, we’ve drawn up our customary list involving three players to by and three players to sell.
Three players to buy
Gerard Deulofeu – Watford - £6.0million
Gerard Deulofeu has shown promise aplenty during his fledgeling career, and he couldn’t have made a better start to life at Watford. Against Chelsea, he scored an incredible goal and also tacked on an assist in the 4-1 drubbing, picking up three bonus points in the process.
The midfield has been a problem position for me recently, and now with Deulofeu providing us with a cheap option, things may finally be looking up for me! No doubt now that I’ve recommended him, he’ll struggle for any kind of form whatsoever…
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Arsenal - £7.8million
It’s already looking like the Henrikh Mkhitaryan/Alexis Sanchez swap deal was a great move for all parties. Although the Armenia international didn’t score against Everton, he made three brilliant assists.
The £7.8million transfer price seems like an absolute bargain, and as he rediscovers that telepathic bond that he shared with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, the points will undoubtedly continue to roll in.
Jamie Vardy – Leicester City - £8.6million
Jamie Vardy has gone under the radar practically all season, although his price has increased recently, following a goal in each of his last three outings. His 18% ownership is considerably higher than I’d like, but if you need a striker, then this could be a shrewd move.
In Mahrez’s absence, all roads to Leicester success leads through Vardy so I’d be surprised if he didn’t continue to add to an impressive 12-goal haul in the Premier League so far…
Three players to sell
Ben Mee – Burnley - £4.9million
I looked down the list at the most transferred out players, and saw Ben Mee. The thing that stuck out to me was his 14% ownership, which is tremendously high for a team that cannot buy a clean sheet at the moment.
There are far better options at around the £5million mark, so it makes no sense to keep Mee while you watch his value plummet.
Phil Jones – Manchester United - £5.7million
After United’s horror show away at Spurs, it was Phil Jones who found himself dropped from the team. Until now, he’s been a great FPL options but knowing Jose Mourinho, it’ll be a while before we see him back involved.
His 16% ownership is a huge turn-off, although managers are binning him off in their droves. Jones’ price will go down rapidly no doubt, but if you want to keep a Manchester United player in your squad, check out Chris Smalling (£5.4m)
Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City - £8.6million
Riyad Mahrez is an interesting character, isn’t he? He’s gone AWOL since his move to Manchester City fell through, and although I feel somewhat sorry for him, Leicester is still paying his wages so you cannot just run off…
The man from Algeria has been transferred-out by a huge 122,000 players and I expect that number to rise before the deadline. He’s been deemed unavailable to play against Swansea City this weekend, and who knows when he’ll be back?
Hopefully, your luck is in during GW 27 and we’re looking at some tasty green arrows come Monday night. We’re coming towards the business end in the season so right now, every single point is absolutely essential. Think about your transfers, check the fixture lists and good luck!
