Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 28: Put Ben Davies In Your Team!

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 28: Put Ben Davies In Your Team!
14:01, 22 Feb 2018

Yes, it’s already that time again, your weekly Fantasy Premier League preview is here. We’re now eleven gameweeks out from the finish, with league-leaders Manchester City needing just six wins to secure the Premier League title.

Last time out, Tottenham Hotspur proved that North London is Lilywhite thanks to a 1-0 victory over their fierce rivals; who else but Harry Kane bagging the all-important goal. The gameweek shock came at St James’ Park, as Newcastle United picked up a vital home victory against Manchester United.

Anyway, onto FPL matters. The top-scorer during GW27 was Sergio Aguero with 21 points, his 4-goal haul, coupled with the maximum 3 bonus points did the damage, and players who captained the Argentine star will be extremely happy.  However, remember that The Citizens will take on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup this weekend, so their league clash won’t take place until Thursday.

Let’s get right into the all-important player selection for GW28.

Three players to buy

Ben Davies – Tottenham Hotspur - £5.6million

This week is all about the FPL bargain, and we’re starting with our most expensive recommendation; Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies. The left-back was brilliant against Arsenal last time out, keeping a clean sheet while picking up an assist.

Davies’ quality when crossing is a huge factor into my decision-making. He’ll always provide great balls into Harry Kane, meaning he’s good for those assist points quite frequently. He’s a mainstay in an ever-improving Spurs back line, who’re racking up massive points between them.

Luka Milivojevic – Crystal Palace - £4.8million

The midfielder has scored twice over his last two outings, and with each passing week, Luka Milivojevic seems to be improving. I say it time and time again, but I love players with low ownership. The Serb has been selected by just 6% of managers, meaning he’s going to pick up points for you, while the majority of your pals won’t have him.

Obviously, bringing him in is a gamble as there will be inconsistent results from Palace, but as a first-choice substitute option at £4.9million, it’s worth the risk in my opinion.

Oumar Niasse – Everton - £4.9million

Everton’s striker has scored goals in patches, and after his strike during GW27, I’m going to take the plunge and bring him into my own team. I like my third striker to be a slightly cheaper option, and with Niasse coming in at under £5million, I’m immediately interested.

The forward looks a shoe-in to start this coming weekend against a struggling Watford side, so it makes sense to bring him in now while his value is low. I fully expect it to rise gradually, so take advantage.

Marcos Alonso – Chelsea - £7.2million

Marcos Alonso is the most expensive defender in the game, yet he hasn’t featured during the last two game-weeks. Yes, he’s been nursing an injury, but after playing against FC Barcelona, I don’t see him starting this weekend against Manchester United as he’ll be eased back into things.

In all honesty, I just don’t like spending huge amounts on defenders as just one mistake from anyone on the pitch can cost them their all-important clean sheet points. He’s also owned by over 20% of bosses which is far too high for my liking.

Heung-Min Son – Tottenham Hotspur - £8.1million

I suggested Heung-Min Son about a month ago, but it’s fair to say he’s failed to deliver the good since.  With no goal contributions in Spurs’ last four outings, it’s time to cut your losses on the man from South Korea, as £8.1million is a decent amount of cash to play with.

Unfortunately, it seems as though other gaffers are having the same idea, with Son sitting sixth on this week’s lift of most transferred out players. So far, over 51,000 bosses have given him the boot and I expect that figure to continue to rise right up until the deadline.

Alexis Sanchez – Manchester United - £11.8million

Since his move to Old Trafford, it’s fair to say that we haven’t seen Alexis Sanchez’s best work. Sure, it’s early in his Manchester United career, but that doesn’t matter to us point-hungry FPL bosses.

He’s up there in the upper echelons in terms of price, and almost £12million can be spent far better elsewhere at this point in time. Do I think he’ll eventually prove his worth for Jose Mourinho? Yes, but right now, keeping ahold of him just doesn’t make sense.

Remember folks, it may be worth holding off on your transfers until Friday, just in case someone gets injured during Arsenal’s home league game against Manchester City taking place on March 1st, however, it still classes as a GW28 fixture.
