Fans of the Rocky films got an unexpected treat when Dolph Lundgren turned up on The Late Show last night.
Lundgren, who famously played the frightening Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, also stars in Creed II which is due in cinemas soon.
He crept up on Late Show host Stephen Colbert as the presenter ran through a monologue on relations between Russia and United States.
Movie fans will clearly remember Drago as a fearsome physical specimen with an air of invincibility when he famously wasted Apollo Creed.
Lundgren told Colbert that he was there to crush Russian stereotypes with the same icy tone that made him one of the franchise's most enduring characters.
“Americans think we’re cold and harsh. Is false impression that I will… crush,” he said.
'Drago' said he knew American President Donald Trump, adding: “Back in ’80s, we go to same parties and hung out with Mike Tyson. I really thought Mike had better chance at becoming president.”
Colbert enquired whether Trump dyed his hair to which Drago replied: “If he dyes, he dyes” reprising the famous “if he dies, he dies” line from Rocky IV. Drago said Trump is a “fighter,” in the sense that “he looks at the treaties you made with allies and says, ‘I must break you.'”
In Creed II, Rocky Balboa trains light heavyweight contender Adonis Creed ahead of a fight with Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago. Creed II hits our screens at the end of the month and reviews so far have been largely positive.
