The second instalment from the people behind “Football Leaks” is now spreading like wildfire on social media.
The latest dose of documents, as reported from German weekly news outlet DER SPIEGEL, alleges that 11 of the biggest clubs in Europe still have ambitious, yet concrete plans to form a 16-team Super League.
It’s been revealed that a handful of those founding clubs are from the Premier League with both Manchester United and Manchester City involved, along with Liverpool, and the London duo of Arsenal and Chelsea - there has been no mention of Tottenham - while two of the continents most high-profile clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona, also feature in the negotiations as do German giants Bayern Munich, plus AC Milan and PSG.
The other five teams that would make up the 16 have been listed as Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Inter Milan and Roma.
The aforementioned 11 clubs would be immune from relegation for 20 years, and according to the document the league could even start in just three years time - in 2021 - and would subsequently bring an end to the current format of the Champions League, while each of the clubs could even leave their own domestic leagues in order to form their very own Super League.
Meanwhile, the leaks claim that clubs could sign a letter of intent as early as this very month following various secret meetings that have taken place since 2016, and The Daily Mail reports that each of the top clubs involved could "receive annual revenues of £440m plus."
