Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are all currently leading the race for the prestigious Premier League Golden Boot with seven goals apiece after gameweek eleven. However, one in-form striker is playing for one of the top three club’s in the country and is bang on form.
Chelsea’s Spanish striker Alvaro Morata was back amongst the goals today as he fired a brace to earn his side all three points against a dangerous Crystal Palace team. Morata has come in for a fair bit of criticism this season but has still delivered an impressive five goals in the Premier League this season.
Certainly, Morata is the value pick in this market when you delve into the odds. At 50/1 he is a startling price for someone who starts every game and plays in one of the strongest teams in the division. Although he faces club competition from Eden Hazard, his odds are five times longer than the Belgian’s despite him only being two goals behind.
The Spaniard seems to be one of those players who is ridiculed on social media. Despite scoring a brace today he was still laughed at for missing a one-on-one, even though his movement had put him in that goalscoring position. Mo Salah is currently level on goals with Morata yet the Liverpool forward is just 5/1 to finish top scorer, despite the fact he doesn’t even play as a central forward in his team.
Looking down the list, current favourite Sergio Aguero, given his history, is likely to pick up an injury sooner or later. Harry Kane will be there or thereabouts, Salah, Hazard and Aubameyang are all playing from wide and the latter is not even guaranteed a start under Unai Emery!
Alvaro Morata is the each-way value pick for the top goalscorer bet this season, even if he is sometimes wasteful in front of goal. Chances will come his way and he will convert the majority of them in a quality Chelsea side.
