All of a sudden the Old Trafford garden is a green one. Months of misery and depression have come to an end following the departure of Jose Mourinho and as we roll into 2019 there is a new wave of optimism at the club.
The Man United squad have been reborn under their new manager with the players finally playing with the handbrake off it seems. Attacking football is the new order of the day and that has paid dividends with five wins on the bounce under their former striker and a number of players appear to be finding their best form as a result.
Paul Pogba has been the man in the news with the World Cup winner looking back to somewhere near his best in the weeks since Mourinho left the club, but he isn't the only one who has benefited from a new man at the helm. Marcus Rashford is certainly playing with confidence running through his veins and Romelu Lukaku is also back in the goals, but there is one star who is growing into his role at the club in eye catching fashion.
Victor Lindelof has struggled to live up to his price tag since arriving in England but has started to look like a new player in recent weeks under the guidance of Solskjaer.
The Swedish defender is becoming the key defender in the squad at the moment thanks to a series of impressive displays and that continued against Newcastle in the last Premier League game on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old didn't put a foot wrong in a tough away game at a difficult venue and was one of the key reasons that the team emerged from that match with three points. Lindelof won 100% of his tackles that night, won the most aerial duels and picked up the most clearances to prove his worth.
This didn't appear to be a one off performance either with a series of impressive displays under his belt of late and it could be that he is the defensive linchpin for the club to build around over the next few years. Man United fans on social media have noticed the massive improvement in their expensive centre-back and although Solskjaer still has plenty of work to do, he is clearly having an impact on a key area of the team as he tries to tighten up a defence which has been leaky at best recently.
