The career of Nicklas Bendtner has rarely been straightforward. The former Arsenal striker has never been a stranger to controversy and he was making headlines again on Sunday as it was reported that he had been arrested for allegedly breaking a taxi driver's jaw.
According to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Bendtner was involved in a 'violent incident' with a taxi driver in Copenhagen during the early hours of Sunday morning and was duly arrested.
The incident is the latest in a long of controversial incidents to blight the career of a player who has rarely lived up to the hype on the field. We take a look at three of the more bizarre incidents involving the current Rosenborg forward...
Trousers Down At A Nightclub
A 22-year-old Bendtner was forced to apologise for his behaviour after Arsenal lost a Champions League game to Manchester United in 2009. The striker was pictured leaving a London nightclub with his belt undone and his trousers down by his ankles, just a matter of hours after Arsenal had suffered a humbling 3-1 defeat on home soil.
Brandishes Underwear At Euro 2012
Bendtner was banned for one competitive game and fined £80,000 by UEFA after he pulled his shorts down to reveal the logo of betting company, Paddy Power, at Euro 2012. The Dane scored in their clash against Portugal on 13th June 2012 before celebrating by revealing his "lucky boxers".
Rubs Genitals On A Car
Bendtner has history when it comes to taxi drivers in Copenhagen it seems. In March 2014, it was claimed that Bendtner drunkenly threatened a taxi driver before getting out of the car, unbuttoning his trousers and rubbing his genitals on the car.
The alleged incident occurred on the same evening his Arsenal teammates were being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich in Germany. Bendtner wasn't part of the Gunners squad but he does seem to have a way with timing!
Bendtner stayed with Arsenal until 2014, although he spent various spells on loan at Birmingham City, Sunderland and Juventus, before departing for Wolfsburg.
He then moved on to Nottingham Forest for the 2016/17 season before signing for Danish giants Rosenborg in 2017.
