Former England gaffer Sven-Goran Eriksson has come out in support of Liverpool and wants them to win the Premier League this season. This morning, the Swere appeared on Sky Sports and said:

“It's going to be very interesting as usual. A lot of people are saying that maybe it is time for Liverpool. I hope so because in my heart I'm a Liverpool fan. But I think Manchester City are still very strong.

“I liked Liverpool last season. They played very good football, very optimistic, working very hard, very impressive. They bought some new players so they look very strong. Sooner or later they will win it, no? I hope it will be sooner."

Liverpool currently lie third in the Premier League table, level on points with Manchester City and Chelsea. All three sides have had an unbeaten start to the league campaign with City and Liverpool sharing the points in a 0-0 draw at Anfield last time out.

Sven was on Sky to push his new autobiography in which he reveals some very interesting things, including the fact he was tipped to take over at Manchester United if Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2002. However, things did not materialise for either party and Sven lead England to two World Cup quarter-finals in 2002 and 2006.

England’s performance was deemed a failure due to their squad, the Golden Generation failing to perform. World class talent such as David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, alongside Wayne Rooney, could not gel together as a team and failed to deliver major success to England.

Sven has pinned his colours to the mask here and wants the Reds to secure their first Premier League title and end their current trophy drought under Jurgen Klopp.
