The former Liverpool winger Suso has made a success of his move to Italian football at AC Milan and is now being linked with a switch back to his home nation with Real Madrid, something which he has described as “flattering”.
The 24-year-old has caught the eye for the Rossoneri this term, raking in assists and scoring a few widely-shared pearlers, and is said to have a €38m release clause that can be activated by clubs outside of Italy.
“Having the best teams in the world interested in you is very flattering,” Suso told Radio Marca, when asked about the links.
“When you hear about a team like Madrid being interested in you, then you have to feel very proud – it shows you are doing things right.
“Returning to Spain would be beautiful but at the moment I am in a nation which has a similar culture to the Spanish one, and at the moment I am happy there.
“I feel important in the team, I am comfortable in Milan, happy with the Coach and have good relationships here.”
Suso joined the Liverpool academy in 2010 from his native Cadiz and left the club for Milan in 2015 having made only 14 senior appearances for the Reds.
His form since his arrival there earned him his first senior international cap for Spain in November of last year, and he’s since notched one more.
Now a technical winger, Suso played in a central midfield role during his time at Kirkby, and was described as the “new Xabi Alonso” by many excitable reds fans in Youtube comments sections then.
He may now, should a potential move come to fruition, follow in the footsteps of that other former Liverpool player and lineup in midfield at the Bernabeu.
