Former Man Utd Midfielder Memphis Depay Scores A Europa League Screamer For Lyon

It's fair to say Memphis Depay didn't have the happiest of times at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman spent two years in Manchester but only made 33 appearances for the Reds scoring just twice. His move to Lyon in 2017 has transformed the player however scoring 15 times in his 40 matches and not many tap ins!

Depay's latest screamer came in the Europa League on Thursday night, slashing home the French side's third goal in their first leg 3-1 win over Spanish side Villarreal.

Running on to a lose ball thirty yards out Depay fired home in impressive style.

The winger hasn't always been a straightforward player and Man Utd fans will be watching his form with Lyon with eyebrows raised. Depay signed for United for £30m before being sold on to Lyon a year later for less than half that amount.

The 3-1 win puts Lyon in a good position to make the last sixteen, after only qualifying for the Europa League as a lucky loser finishing third in their Champions League group.

Atletico Madrid remain favourites to lift the trophy in May, the final being played at Lyon's home stadium. The Spaniards were 4-1 winners away in Copenhagen, whilst second favourites Arsenal won 3-0 away in Osterunds. Depay's Lyon side are trading at around 16/1 for a famous win in their own stadium.
