Former Snooker World Champion Stuart Bingham Given 6 Month Suspension For Breaking Betting Rules

Former snooker world champion Stuart Bingham has been suspended from the sport for six months after breaking betting rules.

The 41-year-old admitted to breaking the rules set by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association regarding gambling on matches involving other players. The governing board having said there was no suggestion that he aimed to 'influence matches or engage in any corrupt activity'.

The current world number nine has also been fined £20,000.

Bingham has collected career winnings totalling over £2 million and hit a 147 three times in his career.

He was world number two as recently as March this year which was his highest ranking in his 22-year career.
