Former Tottenham And Aston Villa Boss ‘Tactics’ Tim Sherwood Tipped For Shock Return To Management

Tim Sherwood is being linked with a surprise return to the dugout for the first time in a whopping three years.

Yes, you did read that correctly.

The gilet-loving boss made his managerial debut with Tottenham back in 2013, but his 18-month contract was cut short after he suffered the sack come the end of the season, despite then boasting the best Premier League win percentage, 59%, of any Spurs boss.

"I’ve got a 59% win ratio in the Premier League and I think if I had started the season in charge we’d be in the Champions League," was a memorable line at the time.

Sherwood returned to management with Aston Villa on Valentine’s Day 2014, and even led the Midlands club to the FA Cup final, but then lost his job in October of the same year.

‘Tactics Tim’ has since been absent from management, although he had a forgettable spell as Swindon’s Director of Football during the 2016/17 season, which ended in the club’s relegation down to League Two.

But now, in November 2018, the 49-year-old has been cannonballed into the next AFC Wimbledon manager market at 8/1, only Lee Clark sits above him in the betting.

The club surprisingly parted ways with boss Neal Ardley on Monday after a whopping six-year partnership, during which he became the third-longest serving manager in English football.

Paul Hurst, Mark Warburton and Ian Holloway are a few of the other earlier contenders for the League One vacancy, but here at The Sportsman we crave Sherwood.

It would represent a simply remarkable return for the straight-talking gaffer who is famed for his catalogue of classic quotes - or what he would call ‘banter’ - the most recent coming on Saturday when he predicted that there wouldn’t be a Premier League sacking this season, four days later Fulham axed Slavisa Jokanovic.
