Former UFC Star Ronda Rousey Wins WWE Raw Women’s Title At SummerSlam

And the new…

Ronda Rousey has a new belt wrapped tightly around her waist after the former UFC star became the new WWE Raw women’s champion following her victory at SummerSlam on Sunday.

Rousey went back to her UFC roots as she used her trademark armbar on WWE opponent Alexa Bliss who screamed in agony before inevitably tapping out, like so many of Rousey’s victims in the past.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet is of course no stranger to winning silverware, having previously bagged bronze in wrestling at the 2008 Olympics, before going on to become the first female UFC Champion back in 2012: Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

The dominant Rowdy went on to hold the belt for three years, before suffering shock back-to-back knockout defeats to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. As a result the American then opted to take a new career path, joining the WWE and after making her debut at the start of the year, she’s now gone on to win the championship in only her fourth match.

In the aftermath of the tapout win Rousey said:

"I'm so happy but it also feels like a great responsibility is on me now. Before I could just turn up and have a good time.

"This is not just an accessory, this is a torch which has been passed down from generation to generation. So many women have put their bodies on the line for this thing I'm holding right now.

"I'm going to be putting my body and my heart and soul into this."
