The former West Ham schemer Dimitri Payet has been identified as a January transfer target for the big-spending Chinese side Dalian Yifang, according to France Football.

Marseille can be expected to demand a fee in the region of €25-30m according of these reports should they elect to let the French international, 31, move East.

Dalian Yifang are expected to appoint the former Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim in the coming days, and have reportedly identified the No.10 berth as a key priority ahead of some shaping up of the squad to fit his needs.

Should they manage to separate OM from their club captain, they may have to triple his salary to convince him of the merits of the move to the Chinese Super League.

The former Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, who has been linked to Manchester United and Arsenal in recent days and Nicolas Gaitan, who has been linked with them for what seems like the last decade, are already at the club.

A steady flow of players from European leagues to monied teams in China has continued despite government regulations brought in to curb what was seen as irresponsible levels of spending from clubs there.

Based in the north-east of the country, Dalian Yifang were placed 11th of 16th in the league last season and will be keen to reboot ahead of the beginning of their new season in March.

They play in the 61,000 Dalian Sports Center Stadium, a setting fit for the likes of Payet, which reportedly cost a remarkable £1.67bn to build.
