From Chelsea To Bayern Munich? Latest Young England Star Linked With Move To Bundesliga
Few players have ignited English interest in the German Bundesliga as much as Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson.
The English duo have virtually planted the seeds for young British talent to consider plying their trade on foreign soil following a dearth of interest in footballers from the United Kingdom playing elsewhere in recent years.
Sancho, realising his chances at power-hungry Manchester City would be few and far between, opted for Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, whereas Nelson – an Arsenal loanee - is at Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals 1899 Hoffenheim.
Between them, the 18 and 19-year-olds have contributed an astonishing 14 goals and 11 assists (all competitions) between them , not only to propel their brand and skyrocket their value, but simultaneously fuelling interest from top foreign clubs in English talent.
Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi is the latest name to be linked with a move to the Germany top tier.
The England Under-19 striker is understood to be considering his future at the West London Club, according to Goal, having no doubt taken an inquisitive glance over at Central Europe and seen how well his compatriots have acclimatized there.
Despite star striker Alvaro Morata’s struggles leading the line for the Blues, Hudson-Odoi has been granted just two competitive starts by new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri and Bayern Munich – winners of the past seven Germany league titles – are willing to offer him an escape route (Goal).
Dortmund, who lead the Bundesliga pack this season and have nurtured Sancho so effectively to reap dividends are also in competition for the London-born-and-bred Hudson-Odoi’s signature. The 18-year-old has made over 30 appearances at England youth level and registered eight goals.
He is currently contracted at Chelsea until the end of the 2019/20 season.
