Roy Keane and Ian Wright were involved in an angry and frank exchange of views on ITV after England lost 2-1 to Croatia in their World Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
Keane was on the warpath in the aftermath of the defeat as he accused Wright and English fans of getting ahead of themselves.
"You were planning the final, where the parades were," Keane said. "You need a reality check.”
Wright tried to defend the excitement that had engulfed the country during the build-up to Wednesday's match, although Keane wasn't having any of it.
“Just take it one game as it comes. Take it a game at a time," Keane continued. "You’ve no idea what it’s like to get to a finals, or even get to a World Cup. You’ve never been to a World Cup finals.”
Keane, the former Republic of Ireland captain who infamously walked out on the squad during the build-up to the 2002 World Cup, was clearly irked by Wright, who resorted to the lowest form of attack in any argument - imitation.
The former Arsenal striker mockingly repeated the word "final" in an Irish accent, which served to infuriate Keane further. The Irishman was spot on as he then told Wright that he was "embarrassing himself".
Wright reacted like a naughty schoolboy as he added: "He's going to cane me again."
You can see the entire spat in all its glory by watching the video below. We imagine things might be a bit frosty between Keane and Wright at the breakfast table this morning...
