Gareth Bale paid a visit to Cardiff City’s Vale of Glamorgan HQ on Wednesday for talks with Bluebirds boss Steve Morison over a potential move to his hometown club.
Wales’ all-time leading goalscorer and national treasure is a free agent after leaving Real Madrid earlier in the summer following a nine-year spell in the Spanish capital in which he won five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles. The rumours about the 32-year-old’s future have been swirling for a while, with some speculation that he would have retired from the game had Wales failed to qualify for their first World Cup in 64 years in Qatar this winter.
But a move to another club would help him to keep fit ahead of Qatar, and Cardiff has long been thought of as one of his possible destinations to end his club career.

Cardiff chiefs have been in regular talks with Bale’s representatives over the last few weeks over a potential contract but they will not be the only club itching to have the former Tottenham Hotspur man join them in this window.
The winger has just returned from a holiday and while is set to venture off on another one soon, it is reported that he will make a decision on his next career step in the coming days before he departs. If Cardiff were able to pull off this deal it would be one of the biggest coups for a second-tier side in transfer history and a huge boost for the entire Sky Bet Championship.
While nothing is set in stone at this stage, the fact that he has travelled to the training ground to have talks with his potential manager is certainly a promising sign. Watch this space.
