What do you think was the best goal in a UEFA competition in the 2017/18 season? Pretty easy right, Gareth Bale’s overhead kick to win the Champions League for Real Madrid. If you didn’t pick that one you could be on the organisations committee who have nominated several goals for the award, but not that one.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kick against Juventus, which was decent, but not half as good (or important) as Bale’s is in contention from the Champions League whilst Christian Eriksen’s strike against Ireland is also included.
That goal from the Spurs man was vital in getting Denmark to the World Cup at the expense of their hosts on the night, Ireland. Former West Ham player Dimitri Payet is also featured on this list after his incredible solo goal against RB Leipzig in the Europa League. He might be a disliked figure in football, but he is one hell of a player.
There are two England players on the list, Lucy Bronze and Elliot Embleton. Bronze scored an absolutely cracking volley for new club Lyon against Manchester City in the Women’s Champions League., whilst Embleton bagged in the UEFA U19 Championship from outside the box.
Some of the best goals on this list come from Futsal. Portugal’s Ricardinho scored a lovely rabona whilst Elisandro also scored an excellent goal in the UEFA Futsal Cup.
Watch the video below and vote for your favourite goal. It is a disgrace that Bale is not on the list, UEFA have had a shocker!
