Liverpool midfielder James Milner has been one of the most vital cogs in the Liverpool team this term, taking a running start at the season having had no international duty to deal with over the summer and he’s nailed down his place as a starter in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The 32-year-old put in another strong display on the Reds’ engine room during a 2-1 win over Spurs at Wembley this lunchtime and a crunching tackle on the touchline minutes before the end showed the industry and application that has made him a must-start for Jurgen Klopp this term succinctly.
One of many broadcasters who have had a public dig at the former Leeds man, Gary Lineker, has seemingly been so impressed with his showings of late that he’s seen fit to redress some earlier comments he made.
Taking to his favourite medium of Twitter, the former England international turned presenter said the following.
‘I once tweeted that I didn’t really know what @JamesMilner was on the football pitch. I do these days, and owe him an apology. He’s a terrific, versatile and intelligent footballer. My bad.’
Milner has himself only recently joined the platform, quickly racking up hundreds of thousands of followers while poking fun at the perception of him as being a bland individual.
He’s usually game for a bit of public ribbing so let’s wait and see what he has to say back after he’s warmed down at Wembley!
His Liverpool side meet PSG at Anfield in their first Champions League game of the season at Anfield on Tuesday.
Great support as always 👏🏻
