Giant Killing! Leeds United Defeat Helps One Lucky Punter Turn 25p Into £564.90

An FA Cup weekend is always a popular time with football fans as commentators reel out the old clichés - "giant killers", "magic of the cup", "fairy-tale" and all that - and one lucky punter was happier than most after landing a monster 2258/1 accumulator!

There were plenty of upsets as the magic of the cup (cliché bingo - tick) reared its head during several third round ties during the course of the weekend.

We've all been there, we've got 25p left in our betting account and we figure we'll pop it on a monster acca. Unfortunately for most of us, the bet is dead by half-time of the 3pm kick-offs (or the 12.30pm kick-offs if the ridiculous number of games kicking off at lunchtime this weekend are anything to go by!).

However, the punter in question has pulled off a remarkable coup with his 25p five-fold effort.

The bettor backed Millwall to beat Hull @ 21/20, which they duly did 2-1 on Sunday.

Queens Park Rangers (@ 13/8) beat fellow Championship outfit Leeds United, while three of the biggest upsets were also included in the acca.

League One Doncaster's 3-1 win at Championship side Preston North End returned 14/5, before Oldham's late winner earned them a stunning 2-1 win at Premier League club Fulham. Oldham could have been backed at 15/2 before the match!

The acca also included Barnet at a ridiculous price of 12/1 and the non-league side duly delivered the goods as they won 1-0 at Sheffield United in what was the biggest upset of the round.

The wins for Barnet, Doncaster, QPR, Oldham and Millwall ensured the punter's 25p bet returned a handy £564.90 - not bad for an afternoon's work!
