Manchester United and Liverpool's rivalry is one of the biggest in British football, and both heavyweight clubs are always looking to get one over each other on and off the pitch.

Well, as Liverpool were suffering a Champions League nightmare in Serbia - as they headed into half-time of their European clash 2-0 behind to minnows Red Star Belgrade - United fans instantly enjoyed celebrating the fact that the Merseysiders were struggling in a must-win game.

For the last few seasons Liverpool have leapfrogged their Manchester rivals in terms of challenging for silverware and while Jose Mourinho has been struggling to recapture the glory days of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, Jurgen Klopp has helped produce one of the finest teams in Europe, who made it to the Champions League final last season.

However, United fans enjoyed watching Liverpool struggle this evening, and have adopted a gloating stance on Twitter trying to taunt their Merseyside foes.

Got a notification on Mobile which said Liverpool was losing 2-0. I got off my bed and started watching right away. Just imagine how peacefully I'll sleep after watching Liverpool lose 😂 #mufc #ggmu [wahid_p95]

Simple things in life cheer me up.. Liverpool 0-2 down.. #ChampionsLeague 👍🏼 #mufc [ant7sys]

Why is the media so silent now that Liverpool are trailing by 2 goals against Red Star huh?? 👂🏻👂🏻If that would have been #MUFC they would be quick to type stupid quotes. [a_alekal16]
