It's an exciting time of the year with the Flat season just around the corner with the Lincoln on Saturday as well as the Aintree Festival being just 22 days away. On today's agenda, there are three meetings to get stuck into across the UK and Ireland today with National Hunt action from Wetherby and Clonmel as well as an evening All-Weather meeting from Newcastle.
My selection today comes from the North East where I feel there could be another win in store for the hat trick seeking ELIXSOFT.
Sired by Elzaam, this 3yo filly had a fairly lacklustre campaign last spring with 4 runs on turf that all proved to be disappointing. Therefore connections decided to switch her to the All-Weather for the winter and it appears to have done the trick.
She won at 25/1 back at the start of January at Wolverhampton in a class 6 race over 7f before going onto follow that up with another victory in a higher grade of race at Newcastle. Although that was only a three-runner race she got the job done in a swift manner and looked as if she is open to more progress.
Now rated just 2lb higher than her last winning mark of 58 and with the drop back down to a class 6 race, she looks to have a real chance.Elixsoft is also the only one in the field to have won at tonight's venue and is the only horse to have won on this surface (twice).
With all that in mind, I'm confident that with Ben Curtis in the saddle we can get a really good run for our money at around the 11/4 mark.
