Horse Racing Tip: Oisin Murphy Can Claim Wolverhampton Opener

Horse Racing Tip: Oisin Murphy Can Claim Wolverhampton Opener

Sparkalot was my selection yesterday and he certainly did not let us down at Kempton last night. Well supported before the off he was sent off as the 11/8 market favourite. He travelled well under a patient ride from Luke Morris to reel in the leader in the final furlong and win by half-a-length for trainer Simon Dow.

There's five meetings throughout the UK and Ireland today with National Hunt fixtures from Ludlow, Chepstow and Cork as well as two All-Weather meets from Wolverhampton and Chelmsford. And just like yesterday I'm sticking with the All-Weather for my best bet of the day which comes in the 14:10 Class 5 Handicap over 5f at Wolverhampton this afternoon.

ZIPEDEEDODAH is a horse who is no stranger to Wolverhampton as tonight will be his eighth run at the Black Country track. He's won on two of those occasions, however, he is a gelding who has not managed to be first past the post in his last 18 races. Consequently, his handicap mark has been falling and he is now rated 65 after being a career high of 78 just 12 months ago.

He did manage a win back at Lingfield last May but that was on turf and when we delve into his form we can see that his last winning mark on the all-weather is 74, much higher than today's mark of 65. Also I feel it is very telling that this son of Zebedee has not raced in Class 6 company since October 2016 and the drop down back into a Class 6 this evening could really see him claim that victory that has been eluding him for the last 18 races.

I had been hoping to get on at an each-way price but with the non runners this morning I've put my conkers on the table and waded in with a 1 point win only bet at around the price of 7/2. Oisin Murphy will be doing the steering this afternoon and I'm confident that he can bring home this one home and land the spoils.
