Huge St Helens v Wigan Warriors Derby To Be Shown Live On The Sportsman

The Betfred Women's Super League clash will be shown exclusively to The Sportsman's users

Two of the top three teams in the Betfred Women's Super League go head-to-head on Sunday as another page is written in the story of rugby league's great rivalry between St Helens and Wigan Warriors. And The Sportsman will be there to bring you live and exclusive coverage.

Wigan sit second in the early standings after two rounds while Saints are nestled in behind with a chance to strike at the Totally Wicked Stadium this weekend.

Saints are four-time Super League champions and are now coached by two-time former men's Grand Final winner Matty Smith. Having fallen short in Smith's first game in charge, losing 26-6 to 2022 League Leaders' Shield winners York Valkyrie live on The Sportsman, Saints were excellent last time out in toppling the reigning champion Leeds Rhinos 38-18 at Headingley.

Smith told Saints TV after that impressive win: "I asked for an 80-minute performance and I think they delivered on that. They were maybe a couple of sets off in defence, where I thought we could have kept out a couple of tries, but I'm really, really pleased with the win and to go there and play like that against Leeds, credit to the girls, they were outstanding on the day."

Meanwhile Kris Ratcliffe's Warriors remain unbeaten after their opening couple of fixtures, their opening 22-22 draw with Warrington Wolves being followed up with a 30-20 Round 2 success away to the Huddersfield Giants. While they haven't won the competition since 2018, there is a hope that they can be one of the dark horses in this season's title race.

Sunday's clash will be a real barometer of who are most likely to challenge current league leaders the York Valkyrie, who already count big-hitting rivals Leeds and St Helens among their scalps three games into the campaign.

The match gets underway at 1pm on Sunday, with coverage beginning on The Sportsman at 12:45 and simultaneous streaming available on The Sportsman Rugby League on YouTube.
