“I Never Get Bored Of Hearing That” Leeds United Fans React As They Go Top Of The Championship
Leeds United cruised back to the top of the Championship this afternoon with a battling 2-1 away win at Wigan Athletic. Marcelo Bielsa’s men were made to work after going a goal down early on thanks to a Reece James free-kick, but fought back thanks to goals from Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe.
It was a dogged display which perfectly encapsulated Bielsa’s methods of hard work off the ball, movement in possession and fluidity between the lines and it is a result that sees Leeds head back to the top of the league, ahead of the in-form Norwich on goal difference.
The away side were backed by a noisy following as always, with 4856 fans making the short trip into Lancashire to see their side win once again. If things stay like they currently are, the Premier League will welcome Leeds back for the first time since 2004 and what a great addition to the league they would be.
Opposition manager Paul Cook was magnanimous in defeat after the game saying: "Leeds are an excellent side, make no bones about that. Was it a deserved victory? People will probably say it was. Leeds had that bit of quality"
Leeds fans are already dreaming of promotion this season and with the way that they have begun this current campaign who can blame them. They currently sit on 30 points after 16 games and are the bookies outright favourites to go on to clinch the Championship title. Just 30 more games to go Leeds fans!
