Further hints about an impending Anthony Joshua - Tyson Fury mega-fight came from an unlikely avenue this weekend, with unified World Heavyweight Champion Joshua’s appearance on The Graham Norton Show (first broadcast Friday 25th January 2019)
The Heavyweight Champion of the World was questioned by the Irish comedian as to whether we would be seeing him in the ring with the resurgent Fury any time soon, as well as his thoughts on the recent clash The Gypsy King had with Deontay Wilder which ended in the controversial decision for the American Bronze Bomber retain his WBC Heavyweight title.
"That would be massive. I would love to [fight Fury]” Joshua stated to Norton,
"The fight that Wilder and Fury had, I felt that Fury won, so it would be amazing to have two British heavyweights and we would be combining the belts up.
"In the eyes of a lot of people, Fury is a champion as such. We're the top three, so I would love to fight him. Even though he hasn't got a belt, it's still fighting one of the top three."
AJ also suggested that Wilder may had thought he had chosen an 'easy' opponent, after Fury's long-absence from the sport.
"Three years is a long time to take out and I think it was a good name, but he must have thought it was an easy fight, because he thought he was getting him when he was a bit cold.
"Tyson Fury is very talented, very skilled and showed that to the world when he boxed him, so it ended in a draw."
Wembley Stadium has been booked for April 13th, but the opponent to face Joshua is up in the air; whether it be the rematch with Dillian Whyte, or the fight most boxing fans want to see, Fury-Joshua.
