England have won a penalty shootout, this is not a drill!!

Gareth Southgate's side came through an excruciating 120 minutes in Moscow to beat Colombia on penalties, sending the nation into raptures. Former England internationals Ian Wright, Gary Neville and Lee Dixon also couldn't hide their delight, the trio were on ITV's panel covering the game and the channel captured the moment Eric Dier stroked the winning penalty home.

Ian Wright, who played 33 times for England scoring nine times could barely watch as the tension gripped the studio. Former Arsenal teammate Lee Dixon was quick to let him know Dier had scored and then the pair were joined by Gary Neville, dancing with delight at the final score.

Neville is usually a pretty cool character but the former England full-back couldn't contain his excitement. Neville played for England the last time they won a penalty shootout against Spain in 1996, EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO!

It was only England's second penalty shoot-out win from eight attempts and their first in a World Cup.

In a cagey and bad-tempered match, England took the lead through a Harry Kane second half penalty after he was wrestled to the ground by Carlos Sanchez. Gareth Southgate's team controlled the game for almost 92 minutes before Barcelona bound centre back Yerry Mina scored one of his now trademark towering headers in the third minute of added time.

It took a good fifteen minutes for England to regroup during extra-time but neither side could get a winner.

Kane and Rashford, who was subbed on to take a penalty were successful from the spot as were Radamel Falcao, Juan Cuadrado and Muriel for the Colombians. England were the first to blink and Jordan Henderson's penalty was saved by David Ospina, but the Colombians couldn't capitalise with Uribe hitting the bar and then Jordan Pickford saving brilliantly from Carlos Bacca. Kieran Trippier scored his pen before another Spurs man Eric Dier slotted home to the disbelief of England fans everywhere!
