Benjamin Pavard memorably hammered home one of the goals of year during the 2018 World Cup, with his humdinger for France in their thrilling last-16 4-3 victory against Argentina voted the goal of the tournament. Rightly so, it was exquisite.
Now, a clip of the Frenchman conjuring up one of the all-time perfect passes for club side VfB Stuttgart has suddenly gone viral on social media, and you can see why it's marvellous, although the game itself dates back to 2016 when his side pummelled Greuther Furth in the 2.Bundesliga.
It may be a couple of years old, but the video has taken the internet by storm on Monday, with Pavard’s exceptional defence-splitting pass definitely up there with the best we’ve ever seen.
The moment came just two minutes into the clash as Pavard, 20 yards into his own half on the left flank, sent an exquisite ball through three lines of the opposition, straight into the path of Carlos Mane who repaid the favour by slotting the ball home and putting Stuttgart in front.
Fast forward to the summer of 2018 and Pavard became a World Cup winner with France, but despite his memorable performances - including THAT GOAL against Argentina - he remained at Stuttgart, although the club may struggle to hold onto their man in the New Year should any of the European heavyweights come calling.
Both Bayern Munich and Liverpool were previously linked with the defender, but his love and loyalty to Stuttgart prevented a big money move. However, with the club struggling so far this season (15th) he may soon decide that the time is right for a switch.
In the meantime, check out that simply stunning assist!
