Jason Cundy Branded A 'Sexist Pig' By Piers Morgan For Controversial Women Commentator Comments

Former Chelsea defender and Talksport host Jason Cundy has found himself in hot water following his appearance on Good Morning Britain, claiming that women shouldn't commentate on football games because their voices are 'too high-pitched'.

Cundy, who also played for Ipswich, Portsmouth and Tottenham was speaking on the ITV breakfast show, reacting to Vicki Sparks becoming the first female to commentate on a World Cup match last week when Portugal met Morocco in their second Group B game on the BBC.

Sparks called the 1-0 win to Portugal, but appears to have enraged Cundy, who was branded a 'sexist pig' by interviewer Piers Morgan.

Morgan said that it didn't matter who was commentating as long as they knew what they were talking about. Cundy conceded that this wasn't a slight about whether a woman could do the job down to a lack of knowledge, more that he just couldn't listen to a women's voice for 90 mins. Pretty trivial hey?!

@GMB ran a poll beneath the video asking people there opinions, with 63% not agreeing with the former defender's controversial comments.

The story has sparked much debate, @MeriemStone saying:

"Totally agree with him ! it doenst matter how clever and informed she is. A high pitched voice for 90 minutes is torture , let alone when the teams score ! PS I am a lady myself"

Whilst @The_Gunnersbury had a different perspective:

"He could have said that male commentators who dont have a good voice quality irk him equally... but no he stuck to his misogynist view about women only. That was as blatant as it could get and a fair reflection of our modern yet crazy Society as a whole."
