Jimmy Bullard was at his mischievous best on Saturday morning as the former Wigan Athletic and Hull City midfielder "recreated" the penalty on Soccer AM that has been taking the internet by storm, which saw Rubin Kazan's youth team player Norik Avdalya not only score a spot-kick, but also do a back-flip in the process.
At his ebullient best Bullard opened up the popular Saturday morning football show by claiming that he was capable of reproducing Avdalya's sensational back-flip, but instead of scoring the penalty would elect to hit the crossbar instead.
Sporting a denim jacket while he made the outrageous claim to fellow presenter John Fendley that he could show off his gymnastics ability by producing the back-flip, Bullard then stepped up to the penalty spot to show his inner Nile Wilson.
However, Fendley - widely known at Fenners - had to quickly stop Bullard from taking the shot from 12 yards as he insisted that Bullard would need to remove his jacket in order to take the penalty. Who knows why he asked him to do that!
In just a t-shirt, the camera angle changed and "Bullard" was seen unleashing a right-foot shot that lofted spectacularly on to the crossbar and with the ball in mid-flight he produced a delightful back-flip and landed on his feet.
With the ball cannoning off the bar and back into his hands, the camera angle reverted back to its usual screen and Bullard was mobbed by the Soccer Am crew as well as a gaggle of Hartlepool United fans.
