Jose Mourinho Caught Lying To Camera Over Manchester United's Traffic Problems

Jose Mourinho has attempted to turn a bad situation into good as gridlock traffic in Manchester delayed his United side’s bus on its way to Old Trafford ahead of tonight’s tie against Juventus.

In a pre-game interview with BT Sport in the stadium, he painted himself as the quintessential man of the people, claiming that he’d hopped off the team bus and strolled to the ground among the fans.

"I walked in a hoodie, in the middle of the fans, no one recognised me. I took two minutes," he said.

It didn’t take long for Jose to be caught out as telling fibs, after a fan account posted a video of him taking the short trip to the ground on foot.

The video appears to show Mourinho, but he’s not wearing a hoodie, and he’s surrounded by beefy security staff on all sides, and, of course, he has been recognized quite clearly.

Nothing like a bit of bold-faced lying on national television to set you up for a big day at work.

He does cut a rather dashing figure in that turtleneck, though, so we’re minded to let his indiscretions slide on this occasion.

The Portuguese has named an unchanged side for the first time in quite a while, as he seems to finally have got the sort of performances he craves out of his side in their drawn last game at Stamford Bridge.

Can he consolidate the progress of that showing against the Italian champions tonight? Time will tell.
