Jose Mourinho has predicted an upswing in Manchester United’s fortunes by the end of the year after the perceived pinch of their schedule released it’s grip.
“I think we will be in a better position,” he predicted. “I always say that in the end of the season you play 19 matches at home and away and it doesn’t matter when but the reality is that the way the fixtures are coming sometimes they have an influence.”
The Portuguese looked back on what he perceived to be tough recent run of games and then ahead to the way his side’s upcoming European ties will be spliced in with tough domestic fixtures and predicted that it will prove a challenge.
He feels, though, that they can overcome this move up the Premier League table from their eight-placed berth before the turn of the year.
“We will have Juventus away before Manchester City, we will have Valencia away before Liverpool in this part of the season we play away against possibly the three biggest candidates for the title, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City so the calendar was not nice to us but I think by the end of December, which is the end of the first half of the PL, we are not going to be in the position we are now, will be a better position."
A win at Dean Court can bring them level on points with Bournemouth and kick-start that upward motion into action.
