New Zealand’s heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker is confident he will be the man to end Anthony Joshua’s unbeaten streak in Cardiff in March, claiming he’ll match his beloved All Black’s rugby team, and boast an unbeaten record in Cardiff.
Parker, who holds the WBO heavyweight title says he respects Joshua, but doesn’t fear him in the ring.
Speaking to The Sportsman, Parker claimed “I’ll have all the straps round my waist after this fight, I don’t fear Joshua, I think I’m going to knock him out. I’m confident, I’ve studied him for many years now, I know his strengths, and I also know his weaknesses. I’m now looking to build my reputation in the U.K”.
Parker then went on to reveal some details in the contract, that Anthony Joshua is entitled to an immediate rematch should he lose the bout, a luxury not on offer to the Kiwi.
“My first fight after Joshua will be Joshua again, because he had to put a rematch clause in the contract” claimed Parker. “I don’t need one, because I’m going to beat him, so I haven’t got one, but he has one and he’s going to need it”.
The fight, which will be the first heavyweight unification bout on British soil, will be Joseph Parker’s second consecutive fight in the country, after he defeated Hughie Fury, cousin of former WBO belt holder Tyson, last year.
