Manchester United gaffer Jose Mourinho is back. The Portuguese king has found his mojo and it was on display for all to see at full-time of last night’s game as he cupped his ear to the home fans, after receiving abuse for the full 90 minutes. His achievements at Inter Milan clearly still irritate the Juve fans, who are used to dominating Italian football.
Of course, even after losing the game at Old Trafford, Mourinho held up three fingers to the away fans to signify the unprecedented treble he won with Inter in 2009/10. But he had even more reason to celebrate last night as United did the unthinkable and stole all three points from the Italian champions, putting them in a remarkably strong position to qualify for the last 16.
Mourinho certainly seemed to be in a jovial mood after one of United’s best European wins in almost a decade. A late free-kick from Juan Mata brought United level before an own-goal from Alex Sandro handed them the victory.
Mourinho, who looked back to his old self at full-time, also had a laugh at the FA’s expense, when an Italian reporter questioned him about his actions at the final-whistle. The conversation went as followed:
Reporter: “When you went out and celebrated the Juventus players were obviously very upset.”
Jose Mourinho: “Do you understand Italian.”
R: “No.”
JM: “So ask the FA, they will translate for you!”
Mourinho had a smirk on his face as he delivered his punchline and then followed it up with an evil laugh that would put Scar from Lion King to shame whilst he slid out of shot. His bellowing laugh certainly tickled the reporter and everyone on social media.
