Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is remaining positive despite his side losing their first game of the Premier League season and blowing the chance to go ten points clear of rivals Manchester City.
Jurgen remains delighted with his start to the season and says he would have ‘paid money’ to be four points clear of Man City at this stage of the season.
“I have so much faith in my players you can't imagine,” he said. “But if somebody would have told me that after both the City games – not that I've thought about it – that we would be four points clear, I would have paid money for it you cannot believe.
“You wanted to tell us the season is over if we lose tonight. But football is like this. If we'd have won tonight we'd have been 10 points clear, but we're not.
“For us it's really important that we take it game by game because there's no other chance.”
The German boss then went on to say the lack of experience should keep his side grounded in the run-in.
“If we had won the title five times in the last 10 years then we'd say 100%, but we don't have the experience. Why should we behave like somebody who has won it all the time?
“We have never won it as a team. We want to finish the season as good as possible. We can do that.
“We are still in a pretty good position. It is fine for us.”
Klopp was keen to turn Liverpool’s attention to their next match and thinks his players will get over this defeat quickly.
“Not at the moment. It feels really bad, but it's only a moment. Then tomorrow morning when we wake up it still feels average and then we have the opportunity to work on it and prepare for the next game and that's what we will 100% do.”
