Securing the scintillatingly talented Justin Kluivert from Ajax for just €17.25 million is unquestionably a wonderful piece of business by AS Roma.

While Roma's head of recruitment, Monchi, admitted it wasn't easy to snap up the 19-year-old, with a host of other clubs battling to sign him too, the fact Kluivert believes the Giallorossi was the perfect place for him to shine sealed the deal.

"I’m feeling great,” Kluivert told Roma's official website. “I’m at an unbelievable club and I can’t wait to start. I think Roma is a great club for me - I think they can build me into a bigger, stronger player and I can do some nice things here.”

Having scored 10 goals and laid on five assists in his 30 Eredivisie matches last season, the massively exciting winger will be a fine asset and add another dimension to Eusebio Di Francesco's attacking plans.

Possessing searing pace, sublime dribbling abilities and strength, the Dutchman is a hugely challenging proposition for any defender to handle in a 1v1 situation. Indeed, being so adept in this regard has positive ramifications for his teammates too, for he regularly gets double or triple teamed, which importantly creates space for teammates to utilise.

His movement is another highlight of his, using this to surge in behind with superbly timed runs, find space infield or be instrumental in creating overloads.

In addition, with Kluivert being so competent at performing positional rotations and knowing how best to position himself to manufacture the aforementioned overloads, both aspects of Di Francesco's philosophy, this should see him adapt rather smoothly on the pitch. By the numbers, his exemplary 2.7 dribbles p90, 3.59 progressive runs p90, 2.76 shots p90 and 5.06 accurate crosses p90 only serve to highlight what a dangerous attacker he is. Although it will inherently take time to adjust to living in the unfamiliar confines of Rome and building relationships with his new teammates, the acquisition of Kluivert by Roma is definitely one that should benefit the club, both now, and in the future.
