Having clocked a remarkable 110 international caps for the Republic of Ireland, Kevin Kilbane has achieved more than most already but, at the age of 41, he’s turning his hand to a new profession and learning how to DJ.
That’s right. ‘DJ Killa’ has been mastering the wheels of steel and is set to lineup alongside famed electronic music Groove Armada for a performance.
You haven’t slipped into another reality, though, this is part of a promotional series entitled ‘Superstar DJ’ which is being sponsored by Allied Irish Bank.
Episode two of a series that you can only assume was conceptualised in the last sixty seconds before a pitching deadline, the Boys in Green legend shows his nerves as the realities of the task he’s taken on hit home.
“I'm out of my comfort zone, and this could be a total embarrassment for me," he said in the second episode of the series, which can be found below.
Tom Findlay, one half of the duo he’ll be supporting at the end of his journey, gave him a bit of advice that might well give the DJ communities secret weapon away to the public.
"If things are not going particularly well, put your arm up like that and look totally confident and smile," Tom said.
Kilbane, it turns out, always had a desire to command a dancefloor but of, course, chose the boots over the bangers when push came to shove.
Have a look at his effort at a rebirth below.
