Leeds United have moved to the top of the Championship - for a few hours at least - thanks to a hard-earned win over promotion rivals Sheffield United.
It was United's third straight win and their fifth success in the last seven games. The Blades stayed fifth when a win could have put them third.
Pablo Hernandez got the game's only goal as he made the most of a defensive error from the home side. John Egan overhit a backpass to his keeper Dean Henderson and the Manchester United loan player miscued his pass straight to Leeds' Jack Clarke, who teed up the ball for Hernandez to tap in a late winner.
Sheffield United hit the crossbar in stoppage time when Connor Washington's overhead kick was narrowly off target.
"There's no hiding place," admitted Blades boss Chris Wilder when asked about the error. "We made a big mistake but we have got to keep going and take heart from parts of that performance."
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said: "It was a very tactical game. If it was a draw it would have been a fair result. My colleague told me to make a positional change in the second half and that helped is. At the end of the day, the mistake made by the opponent and when they hit the post defined the game."
There was an odd moment in the post match interview when Bielsa corrected his interpreter, leading some to suggest that Bielsa's English is a lot better than we have been led to believe.
Horror moment for Sheffield United 'keeper Henderson as gifts Leeds possession and Hernandez knocks in to an empty net.
