The second round draw of the Carabao Cup gets underway tonight at around 7pm as most Premier League teams join the fun. We will be covering the draw as it happens so stay tuned below for live updates as the draw happens.
Every Premier League side except the top seven, those competing in European competition this season, are in the hat for this draw which means clubs such as Everton, Newcastle, Leicester and Bournemouth are all in. These Premier League clubs join the sides from the Championship, as well as those who qualified from round one from League One and League Two.
Leeds’ perfect start under new manager Marcelo Bielsa continues as they made it three wins out of three in midweek v Bolton. A 2-1 win over the Trotters means that a Premier League club could find themselves drawn at Elland Road in this round. Another big Championship side in Nottingham Forest are also ready to test themselves against a top flight side after an unbeaten start to the season, including a thrilling 10-9 penalty shootout win against Bury in the previous round of this competition.
Tonight, after the draw has been completed, League One side Sunderland host Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in a clash of two lower league giants. Jack Ross has made a decent start with the Black Cats, taking four points from his opening two games whilst Wednesday have had a more difficult start this season with just one point on the board.
