Dejan Lovren and Sergio Ramos’ beef escalated to a new level last night as Croatia beat Spain 3-2 in a dramatic Nation’s League encounter. The two defenders have shared a spat over recent months since Lovren called himself one of the best in the world and criticised the Spaniard’s ability.
Now in an Instagram video filmed after full-time last night, Lovren called the Spaniard ‘a p*ssy’ after the win and also made the elbow motion, insinuating that Ramos was physical with his elbows during the game.
Lovren has in the past said that Sergio Ramos was made to look better by Real Madrid team-mate and World Cup winner Raphael Varane. Despite all of this abuse from the Croat Sergio Ramos has not replied to any of the criticism.
The game last night was the perfect advert for the Nation’s League as competitive football between two of Europe’s top teams was gripping. Tin Jedvaj was the man who smashed home a late winner for the home side who had lost the reverse fixture 6-0 in another remarkable game.
Now England can qualify if they beat Croatia on Sunday, whilst they can also be relegated if they fall to defeat. All three teams can qualify and it is safe to say that FIFA have actually come up with a great idea in the Nation’s League. The winner of the group will go into a summer tournament consisting of the winners of each of the top groups.
