Liverpool Forward Mo Salah Faces Fine And Penalty Points After Being Filmed On His Phone Whilst Driving

Liverpool’s star man Mo Salah could be in trouble with the police having been caught on his mobile phone in his car. In the video, you can see Salah, sat in traffic, on his phone attempting to get away from the stadium after opening the scoring in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over West Ham.

Merseyside Police tweeted: ‘We have been made aware of a video believed to show a footballer using a mobile phone whilst driving. This has been passed to the relevant department. Thanks for letting us know.’

On the Goverment’s official website it states that ‘You can get 6 penalty points and a £200 fine if you use a hand-held phone when driving. You’ll also lose your licence if you passed your driving test in the last 2 years. You can get 3 penalty points if you don’t have a full view of the road and traffic ahead or proper control of the vehicle.’

Although Salah only drove a few metres slowly whilst on his phone, it is still against the law and the authorities could make an example out of him. In fact on Gov.co.uk it does state: ‘The law still applies to you if you’re stopped at traffic lights, queuing in traffic or supervising a learner driver.’

Salah will likely be punished for his mistake with a fine or points penalty likely, based on the guidelines provided. That will come as a blow to the Egyptian who had recaptured his goalscoring form from last season just 19 minutes into that West Ham game.
