Liverpool Legend Praises Manchester United's Appointment Of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Liverpool hammered down the final nail in the coffin of Jose Mourinho who was axed by Manchester United yesterday 48 hours after a 3-1 defeat at Anfield, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer today named as his short-term replacement in the Red Devils dugout.

Solskjaer was a surprise choice to many, especially given how his last spell went in the Premier League with Cardiff, who suffered relegation out of the top-flight during his underwhelming eight-month spell in charge.

However, Solskjaer would return to Molde, where he would re-build his managerial career, and he is now bidding to make an instant impact back at Old Trafford.

But, while Liverpool fans will no doubt be hoping he spectacularly flops in his new post, the Norwegian has received the backing from former Reds left-back John Arne Riise who has reacted to the news by tweeting his approval on social media.

Solskjær new manager for Man U. That’s just insane!! Being a Norwegian and having the pleasure of playing with and against him, I am so proud of him! It’s a great opportunity for him as a manager. This shows everything is possible with hard work! I wish him all the best🔝⚽️

It's not often you see a former Liverpool player shower praise upon someone associated with the club's fierce rivals Man Utd, although this is different of course, as the duo spent many years playing together for the Norway national team.

Solskjaer's first match at the helm is, coincidentally, against his former side Cardiff who are back in the Premier League for the first time since his own tenure at the Bluebirds.
