Harry Wilson netted a spectacular free-kick against Manchester United for Derby County in the Carabao Cup a few weeks ago, and the Liverpool loanee produced another mesmerising dead-ball strike in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday evening, as his 58th minute free-kick handed Wales a 1-0 win over Republic Of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.
Placing the ball about 22 yards out from the right hand side of Ireland's goal, Wilson confidently stroked the ball around the left-hand side of the wall and the Irish goalkeeper Darren Randolph remained motionless as he watched the ball fly into his top-right hand corner, and Wilson stormed off celebrating in style.
It was only a few weeks ago that the 21-year-old had wrong-footed Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero with a similar free-kick, as instead of curling the ball over the wall he decided to bend the ball around the wall and into the top corner, and while tonight's free-kick may not be as impressive as that moment of magic he produced for Derby at Old Trafford, it still shows that his dead-ball skills are oozing quality.
Wilson has been one of the stars for the Rams this season, and will certainly be impressing Jurgen Klopp, who will be relishing his return to the Liverpool setup in the future, but tonight's winning free-kick maintained Wales' dominance over the Irish team that are struggling for form of late.
The two nations clashed last month with Wales running out 4-1 winners, and this victory tonight for Ryan Giggs' side emphasised the progression they have had under their fledgling manager, but Wilson's free-kick was the star attraction in what will be a goal filling a host of column inches across European football over the next 24 hours.
