Jurgen Klopp will be sweating on the fitness of one of his star forwards ahead of Liverpool’s vital Champions League clash v PSG on Wednesday. Winger Sadio Mane has been struck down with illness ahead of the trip and the club are being forced to make a late decision on the Senegalese forward.
The club are set to fly to France on Tuesday afternoon and a decision is yet to be made on the winger, who has been vital to Liverpool’s success this season. Mane played in the 3-0 win over Watford at Vicarage Road this weekend but has been under the weather ever since that game.
This trip to Paris will be vital in determining where Liverpool end up in the group, with it still possible that they can finish anywhere from top to bottom with two games to play. The 3-2 win at Anfield they achieved over the Parisians should fill them with confidence although their form on the road in the Champions League this season has been woeful, losing to both Napoli and Red Star Belgrade without scoring a goal.
They will have to turnaround that form sharpish as a defeat in the French capital will put the Reds on the back foot heading into their final group game against Napoli at Anfield. They may have to get a result without Mane however, who signed a long-term contract with the club last week, worth £150k a week,
With seven goals in 17 games so far this season, he will be massively missed by Klopp, if he misses this trip.
